The dirt road to Camarones starts between Pedernales(27
kms.)and Jama (23 kms.), where many busses pass by daily. You can ask the bus drivers to leave you at : ¨entrada de Camarones¨
Walk the dirt road to Camarones and pass through the village or hike, the locals are friendly and collaborative, it is 7 km from the main road.
Our house is by the secondary road which you follow from the beginning, after
passing through the town of Camarones.
If you have any doubt, ask for "La Finca de Bola", anyone there knows where is. This walk will take about 1,5 hours, but motor bikes and cars pass by and hitch hiking is common.
Another way to get here, only when you are coming from Pedernales, is by
private shuttle. (taxitruck)
This shuttle leaves from Pedernales at around 7 30 am and at
around 12 30 pm from in front of the store Kadefema. The costs are $1,50.
You can ask Angel, the shuttle driver, to
bring you any other time to Camarones, but then he charges you 25$. Angel will
bring you right up to our door. His car is parked in front of Kadefema.

CULTURAL CURIOSITY: Pedernales was a settlement of the Jama-Coaque culture, which was found by the Spaniards on the banks of the river of the same name and which preserves some ceramic remains. It is crossed by the Equator.
The mouth of the river Cojimíes is 40 km. of extension, part of it limits the provinces of Manabí and Esmeraldas.
In Pedernales a historical event was developed: in 1736 was the Geodesic Mission, commanded by Charles Marie de la Condamine, who at Punta Palmar considered the first point for measuring the arc that would determine the shape of the earth and the equatorial line.
The name of Pedernales is detached from the stone "flint", which existed in large quantities in the river bed, as well as the famous emeralds of the Coaque culture

La Finca Ocelote es parte de la Comunidad Camarones, Cantón Jama, al norte de la Provincia de Manabí.
El camino lastrado a Camarones comienza entre Pedernales (27 kms.) Y Jama (23 kms.), donde pasan muchos autobuses diariamente. Puede pedirle a los conductores del autobús que lo dejen en: entrada de Camarones
Camine por el camino lastrado o pida un aventon hasta el pueblo de Camarones , los lugareños son amables y colaborativos.
Nuestra casa está junto al camino secundario que sigue desde el principio, después de pasar por Camarones, a 7 km de la carretera principal.
Si tiene alguna duda, pregunte por "La Finca de Bola", cualquiera sabe dónde está. Esta caminata tomará aproximadamente 1,5 horas , pero las motos y los autos pasan y el autostop es común.
Otra forma de llegar aquí, solo cuando vienes desde Pedernales , es en transporte privado. (camioneta)
Este servicio de traslado sale de Pedernales alrededor de las 7 30 a.m. y alrededor de las 12 30p.m. desde el frente de la tienda Kadefema. Los costos son de $ 1,50. Puedes pedirle a Angel, el conductor, que te traiga en cualquier otro momento a Camarones, pero luego te cobra 25 $. Angel te llevará directamente a la casa. El nombre de Pedernales se separa de la piedra pedernal o sílex, que existe en grandes cantidades en el lecho del río, así como la famosa esmeralda de la cultura Coaque.
