THE FINCA / LA FINCA

(En español abajo)

At the Finca Ocelote, you’ll find a peaceful place where you can relax, go on hikes, watch birds and  animals and go swimming in the river at our camp, where you can also spend the night. We have a small library of books and some games.

Facilities

Sanitary facilities are basic, but working well. Our drinking
water comes from a source. We have an outside shower and a compost toilet. Drinking water also comes from the well. at the moment (september 2019) we are building new conventional restrooms.

There is no Internet access in the house, but you can  get conecction within a 15 minutes drive  . We get electricity from a generator every 2 days for 1-2 hours, when we pump up the water. You can charge your devices at these times.

There are four guest/volunteer rooms with double
and single beds with mosquito nets, sheets and blankets, 16 beds in all.

The top floor of the house is a  meditation room where you can find some silent time, practice yoga or exercise.

Surroundings

We are at the transition zone between  the cloud forest and the dry forest  wich makes a big biodiversity.. You can go for walks in the jungle; there are many beautiful trails to hike. We built a camp at the river, where you can bathe and even stay the night.

Further into the forest, there is the Jama Coaque Reserve where people do research on the plants and animals living here. They are happy to receive visitors there as well and give you an informative guided tour through the jungle.
we are also 2 hours walking  or 15 minutes drive to the nearest beach

There is a huge variety of beautiful animals around: birds, butterflies, frogs, howling monkeys, wild cats like the ocelot ( tigrillos) and Jaguarundi or cabeza de mate, ant-bears, chameleons, iguanas, big rodents, etc. (most of them avoid contact to humans).
